Bonaire is a special municipality of the Netherlands, consisting of the Caribbean island of Bonaire and, nestled in its western crescent, the uninhabited islet of Klein Bonaire. Together with Aruba and Curaçao it forms a group referred to as the ABC islands of the Leeward Antilles.

Bonaire is a diver’s paradise. Unlike most of the other Caribbean islands which are surrounded by coral reefs, Bonaire is actually a reef itself that sits atop of a submerged mountain. Shaped like a boomerang, this tiny nation is the second largest of the ABC Islands with a total land area of just 285 sq km.
